"We are changing the Pro Bowl for fans everywhere and Madden 21 coins bringing yet another wonderful NFL experience to life in the way just Madden NFL can," added Chris Bruzzo, EA's EVP of advertising. "We are excited to work closely together with the NFL, our long-time spouse, to move the Pro Bowl to the digital fields of Madden NFL and participate in their first high-profile sporting event to go virtual. Our community is hungry for more interactive experiences, so we are constantly working to create more chances to bring them nearer to the sport that they love."

There's now no information on when the week-long event will happen in 2021, therefore football fans should stay tuned for more updates to come. Famous writer EA isn't a stranger to controversy. When it's ads in UFC 4 or review bombing of the latest Madden NFL match, the business is often the target of players' ire.

EA's latest controversy, dubbed #EAGATE on Twitter, is wrapped up in the ongoing controversy around loot boxes, especially in the supreme Team manner in FIFA 21. Ultimate Team is a mode that looks across EA's suite of sports matches. It combines elements of fantasy sports-style team management together with the deck-building of a classic card game. The loot box element comes from packs that players may buy to improve their teams. Those microtransactions create Ultimate Team the very lucrative mode in EA's sports games.

On the one hand, it's easy to write off this for anybody without skin in the sport. If somebody's already spending tens of thousands of bucks opening packs, why shouldn't they go right to the source and get the players that they want? But for the players who are busy in Ultimate Team, it feels like a betrayal. As Nick put it,"So we grind/trade/open packs and can not touch these PIM players, but EA workers sell them to individuals secretly for $1,700?!?!" It creates an even wider gap between the haves and have-nots in the sport, without even the veneer of gamers earning high-rated players through ability.

EA acknowledged this in their response to the allegations. They stated that accounts were being used to"inappropriately" give players access to highly rated cards that they had not earned through gameplay, opening packs, or cheapest mut 21 coins other authorized means (i.e., watching Twitch flows ).
